Nagarjuna’s 63* keeps Mystics unbeaten

Defending Champions Mystics continued their excellent form by defeating Brothers XI at Minor Park. Having won the toss Brothers XI chose to bat first, however against a formidable bowling attack they could only muster 141 runs in stipulated 30 overs. Sukumar (2/16) and Balaramakrishna (2/14) bowled with economy and precision.

In reply, despite losing couple of early wickets Mystics reached the target comfortably in 20.2 over. Captain Nagarjuna lead from the front with unbeaten 63 laced with 8 hits to the boundary. 

 

Friends XI dream start comes to an halt against Green Hawks

Green Hawks handed Friends XI their 1st defeat of the tournament. Early morning dew had made Auburndale Park outfield sluggish and making use of the early morning movement Green Hawks bowlers justified their captain’s decision to field first. Haider Paroya dealt some early blows in his 3 wicket haul and was well supported by other seamers. Bala Sridhar and Bhavin Patel showed some resistance and took Friends XI to 130 before being bowled out in the 29th over. 

Green Hawk openers Talha Arif (72* of 47) and Rajbir Singh (44 of 40)  made quick work of the total and chased the target in 14.5 overs, thus giving their team a huge runrate boost.
 

Raptors hand Chief CC 4 straight loss

On back of some fine swing bowling by Chathushka Kumarage, Raptors defended 140 against Chiefs CC. Youngster Nikhil Kadava (2/25) and Dheeraj Chetti (2/18) had Raptors struggling at 32 for 4. Abdul Khaliq Shaikh (35) and Likith Alla(27) revived the score and ensured that their bowlers have something to bowl at. In reply Chief CC batters never stood a chance against a quality seam attack. Chathushka (6-2-8-3), Trived (2/14) and Vishnu (2/29) were top performers for Raptors.

Abhiram lifts Yuva Arcanes to 2nd spot

Abhiram Varchas (47,  2/17 & 1 Ct) with both bat and ball as Yuva Arcanes trumped Lakes XI at Stocksdale Park. Abhiram and Shyam (33) had set Lakes XI a target of 176 in 30 overs. In the 2nd straight game, Lakes found chasing tough and could only reach 92. Hemanth C took 3/15 for Yuva Arcanes. 
 

Varinder spins Bharat XI to 1st win of the season

Winning your 1st match in the league is always special and Bharat XI ensured it didn’t take the too long in MWCL. At Minor Park left-arm spinner Varinder Singh (6-1-10-4) spun a web around Spartan’s batters and along with good support from skipper Kapil Yadav (3/11) finished the innings in 21 overs. 

Chasing 66, Mo Ali and Rohan Sharma took their team home before the drinks break. 


Harshul misses ton again but Chargers keep Pak XI winless

It was another instance of so near yet so far for Harshul Routhu as he was dismissed in the 90s in successive games. Auburndale park outfield continued to be slow in the overcast morning session as Chargers were 2 down for 2 inside 1st couple of overs. Harshul and opener Sanay Patel (28) stabilized the innings till the drinks break. After scoring only 69 runs in 1st 15 overs, Harshul Routhu (98 of 75) and Shahriyar Khan (77 of 39, 6x7) smashed 169 runs of the next 15 overs to set a target of 239. In reply Arshad Amiri (57) and Masood Shinwari (45) took the tota to 213 as their team fell short by 25 runs. 14 year old Visishta Murugan showed a lot of maturity and claimed 3 wickets for Chargers and was well supported by Satya Reddy B.
